MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th November, 2018) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on Monday discussed the situation around journalists of the RT broadcaster with Nigerian Ambassador to Russia Steve Davies Ugbah, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"The Russian side stressed the need for an urgent settlement of the situation with journalists of the Russia Today [RT] TV-channel, Natalia Karachkova and Dmitry Tararako, whose passports were seized by the migration service of Nigeria," the statement reads.
Last week, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Russian embassy in Nigeria was making efforts to help the RT crew whose travel documents were taken away.
The journalists were working on an environmental story when they were accused of having a wrong type of visa and filming without a permit.
