KHASAN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th April, 2019) Border police officers are carrying out document checks at the entrance to the Russian city of Khasan, in which North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is expected to arrive by an armored train ahead of his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sputnik correspondent reported.
On Tuesday, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said that Putin and Kim would meet on April 25 in the eastern Russian city of Vladivostok. Ushakov noted that the talks would focus on a political and diplomatic solution to the nuclear problem of the Korean Peninsula. Earlier in the day, the Korean Central news Agency reported that the North Korean leader had already left for his visit to Russia.
His train is expected to arrive in Vladivostok later on Wednesday.
A representative of the local border police told the correspondent that people that had no local registration could access the city only of they were on special lists, while passage of others was prohibited.
The Korean Central News Agency reported earlier that Kim was accompanied by a number of high-ranking North Korean officials. However, Kim's wife, Ri Sol Ju, was not mentioned on the list of accompanying persons.
