MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th April, 2019) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold a meeting with his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dacic, on Wednesday in Moscow.
The sides are expected to discuss the status of bilateral relations and further steps for development of the strategic cooperation between the two countries. Lavrov and his Serbian counterpart will also address the situation in the Balkan region.
Dacic's visit to Russia also aimed to mark the 140th anniversary of the opening of Serbia's first embassy in St. Petersburg in 1879. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1838.
The ties between Russia and Serbia develop dynamically. Russian President Vladimir Putin payed an official visit to Belgrade on January 17. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic visited Russia twice last year and took part in the "Immortal Regiment" march on the Red Square in Moscow.
