Russia's industrial state corporation Rostec is set to introduce more than 450 new products at the upcoming international defense industry forum Army-2018, the corporation said in a statement on Wednesday.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) Russia's industrial state corporation Rostec is set to introduce more than 450 new products at the upcoming international defense industry forum Army-2018, the corporation said in a statement on Wednesday.
"State corporation Rostec will present over 450 pieces of weaponry and new products at the 'Army' forum, which is set to take place on August 21-26 in [the town of] Kubinka, just outside Moscow. They include an upgraded range of attack helicopters, infantry fighting vehicles, surface-to-air missile systems and ammunition going with them, new types of small arms, communications devices, EW [electronic warfare] means and many others," the statement published on the corporation's official website said.
Rostec's CEO, Sergey Chemezov, said that the upcoming forum would be a good response to the sanctions imposed on Russia.
"While the organizers of Farnborough [Airshow] and other foreign exhibitions try to limit the opportunities for the promotion of Russian military products, we are inviting foreign guests and develop new opportunities for cooperation," Chemezov said adding that over 30 contracts worth around 40 billion rubles [almost $600 million] were signed during last year's forum.
The Army-2018 forum is organized by the Russian Defense Ministry as an exhibition of military equipment, weapons and technology developed for security agencies and armed forces. The forum is also a venue for outdoor demonstrations and meetings with foreign delegations. According to the forum's official website, a total of 1,200 exhibitors from 14 countries will take part this year.
