SEOUL,(APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Feb, 2018 ) :South Korean and Swedish foreign ministers will hold a meeting next week to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation on security issues, including North Korea's nuclear threats, the foreign ministry here said Wednesday.
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will meet with her Swedish counterpart Margot Wallstrom on Monday, according to the ministry. The Swedish top diplomat will come to the South on Monday for a three-day stay during which she also plans to travel to PyeongChang to meet her country's athletes participating in the ongoing Winter Olympics.
The two are expected to discuss bilateral relations, cooperation on the North Korean nuclear issue and other global issues.
Kang, in particular, plans to explain the South Korean government's efforts to peacefully resolve the nuclear stalemate, the ministry said.
Sweden serves as a non-permanent member of the U.N. Security Council and a member of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission that monitors the armistice on the Korean Peninsula. It also runs a diplomatic mission in North Korea.
Sweden sent 119 athletes to the Feb. 9-25 Winter Olympics. Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf is also to visit South Korea during the Olympic period, the ministry said.
