The San Diego Police Department arrested on Sunday an armed female who threatened to blow up a church in southern California while holding her 10-month-old baby in her arms
On Easter Sunday, the San Diego police received several calls from people who were attending a service at the non-denominational Tsidkenu Church in the Clairemont community of San Diego claiming that a woman was threatening to blow up the church. The police arrived within minutes and detained the woman, who was later identified as 31-year-old Anna Conkey.
"The female walked up on a stage and made threats that she was going to blow up the church while waving a handgun .
.. San Diego Police officers arrived on scene within two minutes of the initial call and took custody of the female," the police said in a statement.
Conkey was arrested on charges of making criminal threats and displaying a handgun in a threatening manner.
The baby and Conkey's other child, a 5-year-old girl, have been placed into protective custody to be examined by child welfare services.
The San Diego Police reported that it had increased its security and monitoring in places of worship on Sunday after a series of coordinated bombings hit Sri Lanka's churches and hotels earlier that day, killing at least 290 people.
