Saudi Arabia Fully Supports Political Settlement For Syria, Country's Unity - Ambassador

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st September, 2018) Saudi Arabia fully supports a political settlement for the Syrian crisis and supports the country's unity, Saudi Ambassador to Russia Rayed Krimly told reporters on Friday.

"We wanted and want only to help innocent people, to protect them. Now and with all clarity, we agree on the need for a political solution and support for the UN solution to the Syrian crisis ... We stand for the unity of Syria, for the independence of Syria," Krimly said.

The ambassador stressed that Saudi Arabia did not support terrorism in any way and did not interfere in the internal affairs of Syria.

"We have no interests or ambitions in Syria. We want Syria's security, stability and prosperity. We want Syria to belong to all Syrians without exception," Krimly stressed.

Syria has been devastated by years of violent civil war that has prompted millions to flee hostilities to other locations in Syria or abroad. The international community has taken efforts to settle the conflict by conducting political settlement talks.
