Senator Requests Details On US Military's Strategy For Dealing With Climate Change Threats

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th April, 2019) US Senator Elizabeth Warren in a letter asked Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford for information on how the military is trying to reduce climate change risks.

"Uniformity of opinion among military leaders underscores my concern about the need to act vigorously and expeditiously to mitigate this threat," Warren said on Tuesday.

Warren requested details on the most effective efforts currently being implemented to build resilience and reduce climate change threats. She asked the general to provide the materials by May 13.

She also asked the Joint Chiefs Chairman to provide an update on the recommendations that the Government Accountability Office (GAO) made to the Pentagon in 2017 to adapt its overseas infrastructure to deal with climate change risks.
