Senior Russian Diplomat, EU Officials Discussed Improvement Of EU-EAEU Ties - Statement

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin discussed with EU officials prospects for the improvement of relations between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday in a statement.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th November, 2018) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin discussed with EU officials prospects for the improvement of relations between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday in a statement.

Karasin met Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid, EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian and EU Special Representative for South Caucasus Toivo Klaar on Thursday.

"[The parties] have discussed the prospects for improving EU-EAEU relations," the statement said, adding that the situation in the post-Soviet states had also been discussed during the talks.

The EAEU is an international organization aimed at encouraging regional economic integration through the free movement of goods, services, and people within the union. The organization includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
