Senior Russian, Guinean Officials Discuss Investment, Military Cooperation - Moscow

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met Wednesday with Guinea's Minister of State to the President of the Republic in charge of Defence Mohamed Diane to discuss military and investment cooperation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"During a detailed discussion, in which Guinean Ambassador to Russia [Mohamed] Keita also participated, Russia-Guinea cooperation in politics, trade, investment, and military areas was discussed. At the same time, the sides noted a solid potential for the activation of bilateral partnership through the implementation of promising joint projects in the fields of geological exploration and development of mineral deposits, energy and infrastructure, as well as building humanitarian ties," the statement said.
Russia and Guinea have been developing ties in various fields. Trade between the two countries, which shows year-to-year growth, amounted to $10.7 million in 2016. Russia mainly exports technological goods, including land transport vehicles, to Guinea, while importing fruits, nuts and gemstones.
The countries also actively cooperate in humanitarian field. In particular, Russia helped Guinea to fight Ebola Virus Disease outbreak, as well as provided 60 scholarships for Guinean students to attend universities in Russia.
