Seoul Has Longest-ever Streak Of 'tropical Nights'

Seoul recorded the longest-ever stretch of consecutive "tropical nights" on Wednesday, as an extraordinary heat wave has gripped South Korea for nearly one month, the state weather agency said.

The mercury has remained above 25 C from 6:01 p.m. until 9:00 a.m.
-- a condition defined as a tropical night in Korea -- in the capital city for 25 consecutive days since July 22, according to the Korean Meteorological Administration.
The previous record was in 1994, when sizzling nights continued for 24 consecutive days from July 17-Aug. 9.
Seoul had a total of 26 tropical nights this year, short of 36 recorded in 1994 and 32 in 2016, according to the agency.
