MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th April, 2019) Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic praised the pace of development of cooperation between Belgrade and Moscow during his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Wednesday.
"I am very glad to be back in the Russian Federation ... The level of our interaction and dialogue is increasing. The visit of President Vladimir Putin to Belgrade on January 17 this year was very important," Dacic said.
The minister also expressed hope that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Putin would find an opportunity to meet during their visits to Beijing in April.
He also announced that an exhibition would kick off at the Serbian embassy later in the day to mark the 140th anniversary of the opening of the country's first diplomatic mission in Russia.
"Last year we celebrated the 180th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Serbia. Such a rich history demonstrates long traditions and our relations and shows that deep mutual understanding is at the heart of our relations today," he added.
The ties between Russia and Serbia develop dynamically, with the two countries maintaining regular contacts. Putin payed an official visit to Belgrade in January. Vucic visited Russia twice last year and took part in the Immortal Regiment march on the Red Square in Moscow.
