Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic discussed on Tuesday with Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Chepurin the organization of a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Belt and Road forum that will be held in Beijing later in April, the Serbian presidential office said in a statement
The second Belt and Road forum for international cooperation will take place in Beijing on April 26-27. The Serbian delegation to the forum will be headed by President Vucic and will include several members of the country's government. Putin's participation in the forum was confirmed by presidential aide Yury Ushakov earlier in April.
"President Vucic said that he would be honored to meet President Putin again. He indicated that this would be their 16th meeting, the second one this year, and that it would be a pleasure for him to discuss with the Russian president the bilateral cooperation in all areas, as well as the situation in the region," the statement said.
According to the statement, Vucic and Chepurin also discussed energy issues, including plans for the construction of the TurkStream gas pipeline. The schedule of meetings between the countries' officials was also discussed at the meeting.
