Sergey Lavrov Says No Facts Of Moscow Interference In Macedonia Name Change Debate Exist
Umer Jamshaid Published February 16, 2019 | 05:58 PM
Moscow did not interfere in the Macedonia name change process, while claims to the contrary are absolutely baseless, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Saturday
"We have been accused of interfering with this name problem for Macedonia without any intelligent facts being presented," Lavrov said at the Munich Security Conference, when asked to comment on the issue.
Meanwhile, "five or six top leaders of the West visited Skopje and publicly campaigned for the 'Yes' vote in this referendum," the minister recalled.
"Had we done just one-hundredth of this, we would be under more and more sanctions and punishment. But for the 'first-class passengers' everything goes," he added.
