Canada is being joined by six NATO allies to practice long-range patrols in unfamiliar territory with a range of nearly 25 miles, the Department of National Defense said in a press release on Monday.
"In addition to 150 [Canadian] Regular Force and Primary Reserve soldiers, participants and observers from Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States are attending this year's iteration of the Canadian Patrol Concentration [exercise]," the release said.
The Department of National Defense explained that the two-day exercise on November 24-25 will take place at Base Wainwright in the Canadian province of Alberta.
The event will test the soldiers' ability to adapt as they contend with unpredictable weather and 40 kilometers of unfamiliar terrain, which will challenge their soldiering skills, leadership abilities, stamina and mental resilience, the release said.
