CHISINAU (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th December, 2018) Some 60 percent of Moldovan citizens would vote against Moldova's accession to NATO in the event of a national referendum, a poll by the Moldovan National Association of Sociologists and Demographists showed on Thursday.

Thus, the number of people opposing the accession to the military alliance has remained unchanged from the previous poll in early November, while the number of Moldovans backing accession has dropped slightly by 0.4 points, to 22 percent, according to the results.

The survey indicated that 6 percent of respondents would not even participate in a referendum on joining NATO if it took place on the nearest Sunday, while 5 percent did not know what NATO is and the same amount were unable to say for sure.

The poll was conducted on November 28 - December 10 among 1,195 respondents in 81 localities of Moldova. The margin of error stands at 3 percent.
