Some States' Intelligence Services Try To Use Afghan Militants To Own Advantage - Moscow

Intelligence agencies of different countries are trying to use militants in Afghanistan to own advantage, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Wednesday
"The purpose of the January joint operation to seize the Taliban prison in the province of Badghis and of evacuation of IS militants [Islamic State terrorist group, banned in Russia] raises questions from the Russian side ... These circumstances suggest that the intelligence services of a number of countries are trying to adapt the activities of terrorists in Afghanistan to their interests," Zakharova told a briefing.
Last week, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that the US military had killed security guards in one of the prisons in Badghis province, taking away some IS militants from there in an unknown direction. Then, media reported that the IS members were "liberated" by the Afghan government forces. Abdullah Afzali, deputy head of Badghis provincial council, told Sputnik said, in contrast, that the IS militants were released by some "foreign military forces."
