South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Wednesday presented North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un with silver and gold medals commemorating this year's historic summits.
SEOUL (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Wednesday presented North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un with silver and gold medals commemorating this year's historic summits.
The two leaders met for lunch in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang where Moon handed Kim two small boxes with medals marking their April summit and Kim's meeting with US President Donald Trump in Singapore in June.
A Sputnik correspondent in the Seoul press office said a commemorative medal of gold and silver depicted the two Korean leaders shaking hands against the backdrop of a unified Korea.
Another medal showed Kim and Trump facing each other and was engraved with US and North Korean coats of arms and words in English and Korean that read "peace talks."
This week's summit is the third meeting of the South and North Korean leaders since their spring talks in a demilitarized zone between the two nations. The latest round of negotiations focused on ways to rid the Korean peninsula of nuclear weapons.
