BUENOS AIRES (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 07th February, 2019) Sputnik international news agency and radio and the Argentine Federal System of Media and Public Content have signed a memorandum of cooperation, which provides for the exchange of news publications and other interactions in order to bring together the peoples of the two countries and increase mutual understanding.
The signing ceremony took place on Monday at the Kirchner Cultural Center in Buenos Aires. Russian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Alexey Volin. The agreement was signed by Sputnik's head of international projects, Vasily Pushkov, and head of Argentine Federal System of Media and Public Content, Hernan Lombardi. It is Sputnik's first partnership agreement with the Argentine media.
"The signing of the memorandum was another step in the development of cooperation between the two countries, which is marked by a high level of trust and strategic partnership. The agreement is aimed at strengthening professional ties that encompass not only content sharing, but also professional development of journalists," Volin said.
Lombardi noted that Russia and Argentina had been linked by partnerships for many years, which was once again demonstrated by the leaders of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Mauricio Macri, during a meeting on the sidelines of the most recent G20 summit, where they signed a number of strategic agreements.
"We believe that the signing of the document opens up the richest experience of Sputnik news agency for Argentina. We are watching the tremendous work that Sputnik is doing in the world, and we are happy to sign agreements on expanding cooperation with it," Lombardi said.
It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the signed memorandum, Pushkov said.
"It opens up tremendous opportunities for cooperation with the Argentine media. We hope that the document will be a powerful incentive for the development of partnership in the field of media communications between the two countries," he added.
Sputnik is a news agency and radio network with multimedia news hubs in dozens of countries. Sputnik broadcasts through its websites in over 30 languages, as well as analog and digital radio, mobile apps and social media. Sputnik newswires, available by subscription, run around the clock in English, Arabic, Spanish and Chinese.
The Argentine Federal System of Media and Public Content is a ministerial office created in 2015. It includes state-run television and radio broadcasters, as well as Telam news agency.
