Sri Lankan President Orders To Take 'Very Stern' Measures In Connection With Deadly Blasts

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st April, 2019) Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena condemned Sunday's deadly blasts in the country's churches and hotels and said that he ordered the authorities to take "very stern action" in connection with the attacks.

The series of blasts killed at least 185 people and injured almost 500 others, according to latest media reports.

"I have given instructions to take very stern action against the persons who are responsible for this conspiracy," Sirisena said, as quoted by the Sri Lankan Daily Mirror newspaper.

The president added that the government had already took all necessary steps to punish perpetrators and called on Sri Lankans to support the government's activities in this regard.
