State Dept. Confirms Pompeo Spoke To Turkish Counterpart On Tuesday - Spokeswoman

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke by phone with Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu after Moscow and Ankara agreed to establish a demilitarized zone in Syria's Idlib province, State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert told reporters on Tuesday.

"I can confirm for you that the Secretary spoke with the Turkish foreign minister this morning," Nauert said.

Nauert did not reveal the details of the conversation, nor did she confirm that the officials discussed details of the Russian-Turkish plan for Idlib.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan met in Sochi and agreed to set up a demilitarized zone in Idlib by October 15.
