KHARTOUM (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th April, 2019) Sudan's new military ruler Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan sacked the country's top three public prosecutors on Tuesday following protesters' demands that the Transitional Military Council (TMC) overhaul Sudan's judiciary, the council said in a statement.
"Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan, the head of the Transitional Military Council, has issued an order by which Omar Ahmed Mohamed will leave the post of attorney general, Hisham Osman Ibrahim Salih, will leave the position of first assistant to the attorney general, and Amer Ibrahim Majid will no longer be head of public prosecutions," the council said in a statement obtained by Sputnik.
Earlier in the day, Burhan dismissed Mohammed Hatem Suleiman from the post of director general with the Sudanese broadcasting authority.
Burhan was sworn in as head of the TMC on Friday to oversee Sudan's transition to civilian rule, a day after the military toppled and jailed the country's longtime leader, Omar Bashir. He promised that the council would stay in power for only two years.
