The only survivor of the deadly Tu-22M3 bomber crash in northern Russia on Tuesday is in satisfactory condition and will soon be transported to a hospital in Moscow for further treatment, the Russian Defense Ministry said
The ministry earlier reported that after completing a scheduled training flight, the Tu-22M3 plane crashed during landing at an airfield in the Murmansk region as it was hit by a snow squall.
The bomber, which did not carry any munitions load, was destroyed in the crash. Three crew members were killed, while one was seriously injured and is staying in intensive care.
"The condition of the pilot is satisfactory. There is no threat to his life," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, an Il-76 plane equipped with a special medical module and carrying a team of military doctors flew to the Murmansk region to transport the injured pilot to a military hospital in Moscow.
