Syria Dialogue Possible When Opposition Stops Receiving Instructions From Patrons -Muallem

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said that a successful dialogue with the Syrian opposition will be possible when it stops receiving instructions from foreign patrons.

DAMASCUS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th September, 2018) Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said that a successful dialogue with the Syrian opposition will be possible when it stops receiving instructions from foreign patrons.

"The settlement in Syria is facilitated by the cessation of external interference in the affairs of Syria, including instructions to the opposition about what position it should take during the dialogue.

When this external interference is finally stopped, then the dialogue will become truly intra-Syrian, which in its turn will contribute to the success of the settlement process," Muallem told the International Affairs magazine.

He said the Geneva platform for intra-Syrian talks is unsuccessful due to Western pressure on the UN and its special envoy for Syria.
