NUR-SULTAN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 26th April, 2019) - The Syrian opposition supports Astana guarantors condemning US step to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, the head of the opposition delegation to Astana-12 talks, Ahmad Tomah, said Friday.

The guarantors of the Astana format Iran, Russia and Turkey have condemned Washington's move to recognize Israel's sovereignty over Golan Heights and called it a threat to the regional security, according to their statement on the results of Astana 12.

"In the final statement, guarantors condemned the decision on the US recognition of the Golan Heights as the Israeli territory. We support this statement. It is Syrian territory. We are more interested in it than Syrian authorities," Tomah told reporters on the results of Astana-12 meeting.

In late March, US President Donald Trump signed a decree officially recognizing the disputed Golan Heights as part of Israel.
