At least 28 Afghan security forces personnel were killed as a result of a Taliban attack in northern Afghanistan, media reported on Tuesday
Afghanistan has long been in a state of turmoil, with the government fighting the Taliban, which has been regularly launching offensives in the country's major cities. The situation has been exacerbated by the activities of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia), which has been operating in Afghanistan since 2015.
