MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) The Taliban Islamist movement, which is active in Afghanistan, announced on Wednesday its decision to cease cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), local media reported.
According to the Pajhwok news agency, the group would not cooperate with the ICRC on security issues anymore.
Representatives of the ICRC told the BBC broadcaster that the organization was concerned over the Talibans decision and hoped for reaching a solution that would allow the ICRC to continue its work in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan has long been suffering from an unstable political, social and security situation due to simmering militant insurgency, including that of the Taliban and the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia).
