MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd April, 2019) A Taliban commander, known as Dada, and seven of his fighters were killed in a US-led drone strike in the country's eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday, local media revealed on Monday.
The operation was carried out in the Marki Khel area of the Khogyani district in the province's south, the 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement, as cited by the Khaama Press news agency.
Afghanistan has long been in a state of turmoil, with the government fighting the Taliban radical movement, which has been holding vast territories in rural areas under its control and regularly launches offensives across the country.
The Afghan armed forces, supported by the US-led coalition, have been conducting operations to fight radical organizations operating in the country.
