Ten Taliban Fighters Killed in Special Forces Operations Across Afghanistan - Reports

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th May, 2019) At least 10 Taliban militants were killed in two separate operations carried out by Afghan National Army and Special Operations forces in northern Kunduz and southern Kandahar provinces in the past 24 hours, local media reported on Sunday.

"Afghan Special Forces conducted a raid in Khan Abad district of Kunduz province killing 5 Taliban fighters and destroying 4 rocket propelled grenades," the sources said, as cited by the Khaama Press news Agency.

A separate operation in Khakrez district of Kandahar province resulted in killing another five Taliban fighters, the sources added.

Taliban fighters have a relatively huge presence in the embattled Kunduz and Kandahar provinces, where they often attack police, special forces and civilians.

War-ravaged Afghanistan, which has been in turmoil for decades, is split by heavy fighting between government troops and Taliban militants, groups affiliated with al-Qaeda (terrorist group banned in Russia) and other insurgents.
