A three-day annual 'National Book Fair 2019' was started here at Pak-China friendship Centre on Friday, featuring a number of literary activities including launching ceremonies of books, literary sessions, dialogues and discussions
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2019 ) :A three-day annual 'National Book Fair 2019' was started here at Pak-China friendship Centre on Friday, featuring a number of literary activities including launching ceremonies of books, literary sessions, dialogues and discussions.
The annual fair was being organized by National Book Foundation (NBF), National History and Literary Heritage Division in connection with the National Book Day to be observed on April 22.
The Book Fair was being held in supervision of Federal Minister for education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahood.
Renowned scholars, writers, literary figures, intellectual and artists were also participating in the festival and will share insights for promotion of book reading.
Secretary National History and Literary Heritage Division Eng. Aamir Hasan said that arranging National Book Festival every year was an excellent tradition to promote book reading culture in the people.
He said that the 3-day activity will feature a number of literature friendly activities including launching ceremonies of books, literary sessions, dialogues and discussion programmes and special programmes for children. Eng. Aamir Hasan said that books didn't lose their significance in the age of information technology.
Managing Director National Book Foundation (NBF) Dr. Inam ul Haq Javeid said that special literary sessions would be organized on various topics including Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Pakistani languages, literature in promotion of national unity and linguistic harmony and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC): Educational and Cultural Connectivity during three-day book fair.
He said that the book fair was aimed to provide a platform to promote book reading culture among students, researchers and teachers and it would help increase their knowledge. He said that arranging book fair is the regular feature of Foundation to promote book-reading culture among the people.
Dr. Inam �ul-Haq Javeid said that book lovers from across the country especially students will visit the three-day book festival.
A National level Mushaira was held organized on the first day of three-day activity. Eminent poets of Urdu, Pashtu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Balochi, Saraiki and others etc from across the country participated in the National Mushaira.
Over 180 book stalls by prominent book publishers from across the country was also set up in the book festival.
They displayed a variety of books including literature, poetry, prose, social sciences, information technology, English Literature, urdu Literature, Pashto literature, Sindh literature, Balochi literature and Punjabi Literature.
A large number of people from different walks of life visited the first day of three-day book fair and showed their keen interest in different books and literary sessions.
