DUSHANBE (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) Three Russian mountaineers, who were injured in a hard landing of Mi-8 helicopter in eastern Tajikistan, have been discharged from hospital, Minister-Counselor at the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe Shamil Shamsutdinov told Sputnik on Tuesday.
The Embassy earlier said that eight Russian mountaineers were taken to hospital: four in critical and serious condition and four others with moderate injuries.
"Three Russian mountaineers, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged from hospital overnight after having been examined and provided with first aid. Now, they are in one of Dushanbe hotels," Shamsutdinov said.
The diplomat added that one of the mountaineers remained in intensive care, noting that the decision on whether to continue treatment of two other mountaineers in Dushanbe or transport them to Russia would be made by a board of doctors.
Two other Russians with moderate injuries remain in hospital, the diplomat said.
He also noted that the mountaineers, killed in the hard landing, had been insured, and the insurance companies would take care of the transportation of their bodies, while the embassy would issue the required documents.
On Sunday, a Mi-8 helicopter carrying 15 climbers and three crew members made a hard landing in the mountains. The incident took place when mountaineers were returning to a base camp after climbing Ismoil Somoni Peak, the highest mountain in Tajikistan (approximately 24,600 feet above sea level). Three mountaineers from Russia and two Tajik crew members had been killed in the incident. The remaining 13 people were evacuated by rescuers from the hard landing site.
