Tokyo residents and visitors will have a chance to immerse themselves in the Russian culture next week when the Japanese capital will celebrate its sister city of Moscow.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th October, 2018) Tokyo residents and visitors will have a chance to immerse themselves in the Russian culture next week when the Japanese capital will celebrate its sister city of Moscow.

"The Days of Moscow Culture will be hosted by Tokyo on October 16-18," Moscow's department for international relations said in a statement.

The event opens next Wednesday in the Akasaka Sacas commercial complex, the site of a Moscow fair. Guests will be offered traditional Russian food and see a Moscow photo show.

A forum, called "Moscow and Tokyo: Common Challenges and Interests," will be the highlight of the event, with discussions on town planning, infrastructure and ecology.

Official delegates and businesses from both cities are expected to meet on the sidelines of the forum for official talks.

On Thursday, the Tokyo University of Arts will present a lecture on Russia, while Japan's oldest Ueno Zoo will host an exhibition by Moscow Zoo devoted to the polar bear.
