LONDON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd April, 2019) The Conservative backbenchers of the UK parliament will issue an ultimatum to Prime Minister Theresa May later on Tuesday, saying that she should either name the date of her departure until June 12 or face the prospect of being unseated, local media reported.

According to The Telegraph, it is Graham Brady, the chairman of the 1922 Committee, who will inform the prime minister about the party's plans to overhaul its rules to make it easier to unseat what the newspaper describes as unpopular leaders.

The deadline of June 12 will mark exactly six months since the vote of no-confidence in May, which was held in December but was won by the prime minister.

Under the current rules, May cannot be challenged by another no-confidence vote within 12 months.

May's leadership has been called into question after the prime minister's repeated failed attempts to push the Brexit deal through parliament. Earlier, the prime minister announced that she would not lead the party in the 2022 general election.
