Train Crash in Ankara Caused By Collision With Shunting Locomotive - Transport Ministry

ANKARA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th December, 2018) The high-speed train crash in the Turkish capital of Ankara was caused by its collision with a shunting locomotive, Turkish Transport Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"The train collided with a shunting locomotive that should not have been on that rail track," the statement read.

Earlier on Thursday, Turkish media reported about the crash of the train which was going from Ankara to Konya.

Ankara administration said earlier in the day that the crash, in which two railcars derailed, had been caused by the train's collision with a suburban train.

The Russian Embassy in Ankara is currently clarifying if there are any Russians among those injured in the crash.
