MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd February, 2019) The first truck with humanitarian aid drove across the border from Brazil to Venezuela on Saturday, Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido's ambassador to Brazil, Maria Teresa Belandria, said on Saturday.

"We can report that the humanitarian aid truck has passed the border, now it is on the Venezuelan side.

We have achieved this, this is a big victory," Belandria said on air of the tv Venezuela broadcaster.

However, she did not provide evidence supporting her words.

The Venezuelan opposition earlier announced that the delivery of humanitarian aid to the country would begin on Saturday. The country's president Nicolas Maduro said that he completely closed the land border with Brazil, home to one of hubs for humanitarian aid, and is considering the possibility of closing the border with Colombia, saying the aid deliveries are a ploy to topple his government.
