WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 26th April, 2019) US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will coordinate future actions towards North Korea during a bilateral meeting at the White House on Friday, a senior US administration official said in a call with reporters.
"It's an important opportunity for the leaders to exchange views on recent developments with North Korea as well and to coordinate on future actions, and those future actions of course would also include consultations with our close partner and US ally - the Republic of Korea," the official said on Thursday.
Trump and Abe will hold a series of bilateral meetings on national security, foreign policy and trade, the official added.
The United States and North Korea have been engaged in denuclearization talks since December 2018. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Trump expressed their commitment to the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula during their first bilateral meeting in Singapore last June.
The two leaders met for the second time in Vietnam in February, but the summit abruptly ended after the parties failed to reach a consensus on what each was ready to give to secure a deal.
