US President Donald Trump called on Venezuelan military officers not to follow orders of incumbent President Nicolas Maduro and not to make obstacles for deliveries of humanitarian aid to the country
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th February, 2019) US President Donald Trump called on Venezuelan military officers not to follow orders of incumbent President Nicolas Maduro and not to make obstacles for deliveries of humanitarian aid to the country.
The United States recognized Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido as the country's leader after the latter had proclaimed himself Venezuela's interim president amid the ongoing political and economic crisis in the Latin American country.
"You must not follow Maduro's orders to block humanitarian aid and you must not threaten any form of violence against peaceful protesters, opposition leaders, members of the National Assembly, or President Guaido and his family," Trump said on Monday in his remarks to the Venezuelan American Community.
Maduro so far has refused to accept aid that the United States has delivered to neighboring Colombia, blasting it as a ploy to topple his government.
