Trump Lifted Additional Sanctions On North Korea Because He 'Likes' Kim - White House

US President Donald Trump withdrew new sanctions against North Korea because of his favorable outlook on North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders in a briefing on Friday
"President Trump likes Chairman Kim and he doesn't think these sanctions will be necessary," Sanders said told reporters.
Earlier on Friday, Trump said in a statement that he had ordered the withdrawal of additional large-scale US sanctions against North Korea that would have been imposed on top of the already existing sanctions.
The US Treasury Department on Thursday announced that it designated two Chinese-based shipping companies for violating North Korea sanctions.
It is unclear whether Trump referred in the statement to the latest Treasury Department measures.
The second summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Hanoi in February concluded without the two leaders reaching an agreement.
Trump walked away from the talks after Kim demanded the full lifting of sanctions against North Korea without pledging to denuclearize the sites the United States wanted.
At their first summit in Singapore last June, Trump and Kim agreed to denuclearize the Korean peninsula in exchange for freezing US-South Korea military exercises.
