Trump Says Ready To Consider US Congress' Proposals On Saudi Arabia

President Donald Trump said in a statement on Tuesday he is willing to consider any proposals by the US Congress on Saudi Arabia if they are consistent with American security interests.

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th November, 2018) President Donald Trump said in a statement on Tuesday he is willing to consider any proposals by the US Congress on Saudi Arabia if they are consistent with American security interests.

"I understand there are members of Congress who, for political or other reasons, would like to go in a different direction - and they are free to do so," Trump said.

"I will consider whatever ideas are presented to me, but only if they are consistent with the absolute security and safety of America."

US lawmakers have called for further action against the government of Saudi Arabia over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The Trump administration has already sanctioned 17 Saudi nationals who were allegedly involved in the murder, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's former senior aide Saud al-Qahtani.
