WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) US President Donald Trump in a statement said that the United States will not pay Turkey for the release of American Pastor Andrew Brunson and is cutting back on Ankara.
"Turkey has taken advantage of the United States for many years," Trump said via Twitter on Thursday.
"They are now holding our wonderful Christian Pastor, who I must now ask to represent our Country as a great patriot hostage. We will pay nothing for the release of an innocent man, but we are cutting back on Turkey!"
On Wednesday, Turkey rejected Washingtons latest appeal for the release of Brunson and imposed retaliatory duties on US products.
