Trump Signs Presidential Proclamation Recognizing Israel's Sovereignty Over Golan Heights

US President Donald Trump on Monday signed a proclamation formally recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights
The signing ceremony took place after Trump issued joint remarks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria during the Six-Day War in 1967.
In 2018, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution urging Israel to immediately withdraw its forces from the Golan Heights after the country organized local elections on October 30.
