Tunisia Gets 76 Mln Euro From African Development Bank

The board of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a loan worth 75 million euros and a donation of one million euros for Tunisia to fund the first phase of a program to modernize the hygienic-sanitary services of small municipalities with less than 10,000 residents, the bank said in a statement.
TUNIS, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Oct, 2018 ) :The board of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a loan worth 75 million Euros and a donation of one million euros for Tunisia to fund the first phase of a program to modernize the hygienic-sanitary services of small municipalities with less than 10,000 residents, the bank said in a statement.
It added that by developing new systems to provide better hygienic services including depuration, the operation vies to help 33 small municipalities across 19 governorates, contributing to the reduction of diseases transmitted through water.
The program is part of the five priorities of the Bank to ''improve living conditions of African populations'' through the promotion of welfare, hygiene, the environment and social and economic development for residents of the affected municipalities.
The project also vies to reach the objectives set for the 2016-2020 period for Tunisia and, more in general, development targets in the sector by contributing to the sustainability of systems to manage hygienic-sanitary operationsthrough the capacity building of the Office National de l'Assainissement (Onas)and the cities.
