Turkish Intel Chief Attended Defense Minister's Talks With Shoigu in Moscow - Reports

Chief of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Hakan Fidan participated in Fridays talks between Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar in Moscow, local media reported.

ANKARA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) Chief of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Hakan Fidan participated in Fridays talks between Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar in Moscow, local media reported.

The Russian Defense Ministry said earlier in the day that the two top military officials had very constructive negotiations dedicated to the humanitarian situation in Syria and bilateral cooperation.

Akar and Fidan arrived in Moscow earlier on Friday, after which they participated in a welcoming ceremony, and held talks with Shoigu and other officials, the Anadolu news agency reported.

Issues related to mitigating the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Syria once again became pressing after Syrian government forces regained control over the majority of its territory from terrorists and militants, prompting thousands to begin their return home. The Syrian authorities, supported by Russia, have been engaged in reconstruction efforts.

Both Russia and Turkey, alongside Iran, are the guarantor states of the Syrian ceasefire.
