The drills will last through Saturday, the Anadolu news agency reported, citing the Turkish embassy in Amman.

One exercise, which is held for the first time, is aimed at increasing cooperation between the two states' border guards. It is planned to be held annually in Jordan and Turkey alternately, the publication noted.

The second exercise, first launched in 2000 and held every two years, aims to boost interaction between Turkish and Jordanian ground forces.
