The TurkStream gas pipeline is fully in line with Turkey's national interests, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday at the ceremony to complete the construction of the pipeline's offshore section.
"The implementation of projects of this kind and this project in particular is a vivid and good example of the ability to protect your national interests, because the TurkStream fully corresponds to the interests of the national economy of the Republic of Turkey. I congratulate you on the completion of such an important stage in its implementation. Thank you, Mr. President," Putin told his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Putin thanked Erdogan for the political will and courage in the TurkStream implementation, saying that such projects were impossible without that.
