Tusk Says May Agreed to EU27 Proposals on Brexit Deadline Delay

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) European Council President Donald Tusk said UK Prime Minister Theresa May had accepted the EU27 offers for two Brexit deadline extension option.

Earlier in the day, member states of the European Union, excluding the United Kingdom, have agreed on two new deadlines for the UK withdrawal from the European Union, including cutoff dates in April and May, depending on whether the UK House of Commons backs the withdrawal deal, negotiated by London and Brussels.

The talks on the Brexit delay followed May's request for the deadline extension.

"I met the Prime Minister May several times tonight to make sure that the UK accepts the extension scenarios. And I am pleased to confirm that we have reached an agreement on this," Tusk told a press conference in Brussels, as aired by Periscope.
