KABUL (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd September, 2021) Two people have been killed and five more have been injured as a result of three explosions in Jalalabad, the capital of the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar, sources told Sputnik.
On Saturday, a car bomb explosion in Jalalabad killed three people and injured another 19. The next morning, another blast hit a bus station in the same city, killing two civilians and injuring one Taliban (banned in Russia) militant. Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia as a terrorist organization) claimed responsibility for the explosions in Nangarhar, according to Al-Arabiya broadcaster.
"When the first explosion took place, the Taliban forced us out of this district. Another explosion occurred, one civilian has died and another one has been injured. I have been sent to a hospital," one of the sources said.
A month ago, the Taliban entered Kabul and announced the end of the war in Afghanistan. The last province to resist the group, Panjshir, surrendered on September 6. The Taliban then formed an interim government with Mohammad Hasan Akhund at the top, who served as a foreign minister during the first Taliban rule.
