Two Ships Burning in Kerch Strait, One Sailor Dead - Russia's Maritime Regulator

Rescuers on Monday lifted on board the body of a sailor from one of the two ships burning in the Kerch Strait while three more sailors were rescued, Russia's Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transportation (Rosmorrechflot) told Sputnik

SIMFEROPOL (Crimea) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 21st January, 2019) Rescuers on Monday lifted on board the body of a sailor from one of the two ships burning in the Kerch Strait while three more sailors were rescued, Russia's Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transportation (Rosmorrechflot) told Sputnik.

According to previous reports, the Tanzania-flagged vessels caught fire in the Kerch Strait earlier in the day. A total of 31 crew, manned with sailors from India and Turkey were on board the ships at the time of the incident.

"A rescue operation is underway. Three survivors and the body of a sailor have been lifted aboard," the press service said.
