UAC President Shows Russia's Su-57 Fighter to Malaysian Prime Minister

LANGKAWI (Malaysia) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 26th March, 2019) Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) President Yuri Slyusar showed the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet to the Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, a Sputnik correspondent reported from the scene.

The prime minister carefully examined the entire exposition of the UAC at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA). During the tour, Slyusar commented on the exhibits.

"We, of course, offer all those new products associated with the modernization of current aircraft, our new aircraft. We showed Mr. Mahathir the Su-35, which is replacing the Su-30SM, the MiG-35, which we hope will be delivered to many countries, including Malaysia. And, of course, our brand new fifth-generation aircraft [Su-57], which we have not delivered to anyone yet, but I hope that this awaits us in the future," Slyusar said.

The Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet, formerly known as Prospective Airborne Complex of Frontline Aviation (PAK FA), is a single-seat, twin-engine multirole "stealth" aircraft designed for air superiority and attack roles. It is equipped with an advanced avionics system and airborne active phased array radar as well as with a variety of high-precision weaponry. The jet carried out its maiden flight in 2010 and is still being tested by the military.

This year's edition of LIMA started on Tuesday and will last through Saturday on the Langkawi archipelago. It has been held once in two years since 1991 and is considered one of the largest shows of military equipment in the Asia Pacific region. The event is co-organized by the Malaysian Defense Ministry.
