UK Cabinet Ministers Plot To Oust May Over Brexit - Reports

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th March, 2019) At least 11 UK cabinet ministers are plotting to force Prime Minister Theresa May to step down over her handling of the Brexit process, a local newspaper reported Sunday.

The plotters want to confront May at a cabinet meeting on Monday to demand that she announce she is quitting and threaten her with a mass resignation if she refuses, The Sunday Times said.

"The end is nigh. She won't be prime minister in 10 days' time," an unnamed cabinet minister was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

A debate is on over who will replace her, with at least six ministers suggesting May's de facto deputy David Lidington as a caretaker to deliver Brexit and organize a leadership contest next fall, while others are pushing for Environment Secretary Michael Gove or Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt to take the job.
